A look at how I plan to improve reliability in the coming year

As the new year has arrived,  many of the professionals in maintenance & reliability are finishing up shutdowns.  Shutdown planning and execution is a rigorous endeavor but is necessary to ensure the assets continue to deliver value.  The same goes in preparing for a new year.

Previously, strategy and planning have been discussed, and it is my hope that everyone has a plan to improve reliability and availability in the new year.  This planning is not something to take lightly as the profitability of your organization could be at stake.

I have taken the time to think about what I will be doing in the new year to improve not only reliability but also this great community of maintenance & reliability professionals.

What to Expect in 2017

2016 was a year of major changes to Eruditio, LLC.  We launched a podcast, presented at industry conferences, and partnered with some amazing professionals to bring the latest industry trends and information to you.  2017 will be another year of significant change, but for the better.   Here is a preview of what I will be doing differently in 2017 to improve reliability;

  • Podcast – The podcast has experienced some great growth with over 6950 downloads.  While it will continue to bring interviews with industry experts, it will be expanding to include book/software/hardware reviews when it makes sense.  I will also get back to recording some instructional episodes.   I must ask that if you do enjoy the podcast to leave a rating or review.  This only takes a few minutes but ensures that new listeners can find it. Please rate and review the podcast here.
  • Blog – The weekly blog is what started Eruditio, LLC, and will continue to be a weekly resource.  I will continue to bring relevant topics to you but may expand to include additional topics beyond the management theory of maintenance & reliability.
  • Videos – What better way to explain a concept than to use screen captures of software, or to demonstrate a topic through video.  Our plan is to provide videos on topics, software, and hardware that you may be using or thinking about using.   While I cannot commit to a specific number of videos, I will commit to a regular schedule.  Stay tuned for more info.
  • Webinars – Webinars are a great way to interact directly with everyone.  I will look to provide a few webinars over the coming year.   The first will be on Maintenance Planning & Scheduling, followed by one on Spare Parts Management.  These will be free for everyone.
  • Courses – Our online Maintenance Planning & Scheduling course is undergoing some significant changes, which should be out shortly.  Additional eLearning courses will be released throughout the year.  Some of the eLearning courses will be released as free courses.  Lastly, we are planning on running a few public in-person courses later this year.  Stay tuned for more information, or feel free to reach out to me directly for additional information.
  • Resource Guides – We have prepared a few free resource guides to go along with the eBook A Smarter Way of Preventative Maintenance.  These will be made available within the first few months of the new year.
  • Consulting, Training & Services – As usual, we will continue to provide consulting and training services to organizations.   If you are interested in these services, please set up a free consultation here.  We have also partnered with some industry experts to provide additional products and services to our customers.  These additional products and services will enable many of our customers to take the next step in their maintenance & reliability program.

If you have a request, recommendation, or suggestion for a topic in any of the formats, please let me know by taking this brief (6 question) survey.   My goal is to bring you the information that is most important to you.  If you have an industry expert you would like to hear from, let us know as well.

I hope that by sharing my plan for 2017, it will encourage you to develop a plan if you don’t already have one.  If you do have a plan, I would like to hear what your 2017 will bring.

Lastly, to our customers, listeners, partners and social media advocates, thank you for all of your support in 2016 and into 2017.  It is truly appreciated.

Remember, to find success, you must first solve the problem, then achieve the implementation of the solution, and finally sustain winning results.
