Unsung Heros with Ryan
With the kind of data that technicians collect in the field on a daily basis, it is very hard to note down everything. What they usually do is they go into the shop, perform some routine repairs and then come back to their desks to note everything they have encountered. Even if they manage to note down every single thing into their notebook or whatever paperwork they have available to them, they have to move around a lot and hassle through data every time they leave their position to go into the shop and then, come back.
In this episode, we covered:
- Reliability and Maintenance industry
- How do you select the right tools?
- Do you need a consultant?
- And much more!
Data is the most important piece in the maintenance and reliability process. Therefore, it is absolutely vital to keep a record of every single detail that an engineer or a technician comes across working on the machines. Whenever they make a repair or replace something, it should be recorded so that everyone can see the history of that asset before they work on it. That s why Upkeep has introduced a singular and mobile platform to record and analyze every single bit of the data to help maintenance and reliability personnel. It provides a system that can be accessed at anytime anywhere.
This not only eliminates the need to move back and forth to access simple details about an asset, it also replaces that paperwork that requires a lot of space when there are extraneous details to be recorded for a single asset. This system can help you record, organize, manage, and analyze your data in a real-time manner. There s also a new initiative by the Upkeep that s called the Unsung Heroes. These are the people who have been working so distinctly in various organizations that they have changed the perspective of maintenance and reliability community. These people are from different organizations who support the advanced systems.
These are the people who have supported and taken their organizations to a whole different level. They come from different fields and different organizations. They have a lot of impact on every business they are a part of. They are not just technicians or engineers who make repairs and get things done as they are supposed to. They have actually changed the culture of their organizations and if they stopped being part of that work process, the organizations and overall industry would have to face a drastic loss. Their services should be acknowledged and they should be brought into the light to change the global perception of the industry.
These are the ones who did something different and that changed a lot of things around. We really need to change the perception of our management and every other department that can make a difference. They would need efficiency and results to get it done but if these unsung heroes can derive the change into the organizations, it would be worth it. The companies should shine the spotlight on these people. Acknowledging or appreciating their efforts would really make a huge impact. Professionalizing maintenance can also bring value to the industry.
