What’s New with SDT with Allan Rienstra

Condition based monitoring is good for the equipment to do predictive analysis. Ultrasound helps greatly with this part. SDT is one of the leading ultrasound solutions companies in the world and they have introduced a new ultrasound tool to make the lubrication process better in the facilities. This new tool is called SDT-340 and it is combined with UAS4.0. SDT-340 collects machine data based on the ultrasound sensors and the new Ultra Analysis Suite detects even the slow moving machine parts where even a teeniest of rotation occurs in the systems. That is what makes it unique along with other upgrades that it had built-in.

In this episode, we covered:

  • Overview of SDT company
  • SDT’s new line of products and/or new features/enhancements to the previous versions of the products
  • Required uptraining for new products, if any
  • What are the 4 condition indicators?
  • What does FFT Screen in SDT-340 do?
  • What is the new User Interface (UAS4.0)? How is it different to the previous versions?
  • What else can we expect from SDT in the future?
  • And much more!

This new tool combines the power of ultrasound with the benefits of vibration analysis. When you are checking your equipment for defects using a condition-based monitoring program, it allows you to assess the health of vulnerable machine parts such as bearing, gears, and rotating motors. As it collects data based on very sensitive vibrations, there is a need for more storage space. You can store up to 4.5GBs of data so that you never run out of space when important readings are to be taken. Coming to the interface, SDT-340 allows you to see deviations that cannot be observed by other tools.

It has a feature called focus mode and with that, you can take measurements with crystal clear display. You can capture and analyze results in 256k color mode even and that is a resolution enough for you to detect any fault in the equipment parts. The instrument has a very simple Graphical User interface so operators don t need that much of a training to use it. Having some basic knowledge of sound analysis can come handy, though. It has a multi-touch screen that helps you see things clearly even in the worse temperature conditions and low RPM scenarios.

The new UAS4.0 is cloud based suite where you only need a browser to access the asset data in a real-time manner. UAS has evolved since SDT started developing ultrasound solutions but the new version is just revolutionary. It had made it very easy to monitor your assets remotely and moreover, it is scalable. You can add detectors to the tool as per your need. It gives you on-time screen signal to enhance you detection mechanism in the field. The spectrum is expandable and you can improve your in-field diagnosis by seeing the list of highest signal value on the screen.

In simple words, SDT has introduced a tool that is both convenient and efficient. It has wide variety of applications and is easily compatible with other software and platforms. Anytime you are away, you get a signal on your screen with an analysis of your asset s condition, you can share it with the relevant people and get the issue fixed before it gets bad. SDT keeps pushing boundaries in the Ultrasound business and they have been ahead of the technology curve from the start. They wish to trend the latest ultrasound tools over traditional approaches.
