RCA is a process where you get to the root cause of the problem and then solve it by using a systemic approach. To get started with RCA, you need to gather your data first. Once you set your data points to gather meaningful and useful data, then, you can perform RCA to prevent a failure or find a solution to fix it. There are four basic steps for a good RCA. In the first step, you should be able to gather fresh data the minute a failure occurs. In the second step, you have to determine the impact of that incident. Now a days, RCA is done using advanced tools and is integrated within the already existing systems. It also depends upon the priorities your organization has. Sometimes, RCA gets sacrificed because of the limited resources that every company has. The employees can also learn complex problem solving on their own because skill set will always help them get where they want in any industry.

Millennials have certainly made great improvements in the ways RCA is done these days. It is their ability of solving advanced and critical problems because they have always been exposed to vast amounts of data. Therefore, it has given them the ability to solve problems much quicker compared to experienced professionals who used traditional ways to capture and analyze data. While these young generations of highly intelligent and resourceful engineers and world leaders have changed the way things are seen these days, technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of things etc. have made a huge contribution to the applications of RCA and other methodologies.

Training always helps technicians and engineers make intelligent decisions with gathered data but AI has made it easier for novice engineers to gather meaningful data from a pool of huge number of data sets. They can identify useful data and analyze it using AI driven systems. It is very important to make yourself distinct by using the data very intelligently and deploying RCA in a highly efficient manner. Everyone has access to information and the only way a company can get ahead of their competitors is to use that information to its highest potential.
