Today s episode is about the role of training in affecting change. Sometimes you need to train the workforce to work better than the beginners but that completely depends on the culture of the organization and skills, knowledge, and abilities of the employees working out there.

But when it comes to RCM, people must have at least some basic training on the process to perform at some good level. Some organizations just tend to give employees a chance to learn on their own about new tools and technologies without any formal training and bigger ones find it necessary because of the complexity of the jobs. But the organizations need to realize that the implementation of a successful training program cannot take place without the support of management and other instructing staff involved in it. People need to know about the applications and benefits of that particular job training, feel safe about it and have guidance and encouragement through it.
The next step after your employees are comfortable and motivated is to give them the options to select from so that they can pick the best one related to their abilities, work on it and bring a positive change through that investment. That is how the adoption rate will increase and the organization will get the positive outcomes. Successful programs are the ones where follow-up actions are more than just course discussion. The behavioral change will occur only when people are made aware of what they are taking part into, what is the clear objective of their training, what good will it do to the business of that organization and how will it affect the personal interests of the participants. It definitely takes time but long terms results are always worth the time and the money spent in such cases.

The Quality of a course is not that much dependent on the medium used even if it has a lot to do with the cost effectiveness. It is measured in terms of the level of interaction, ease of access and comfortable environment. That is why training in the presence of an instructor in person is preferred over E-learning. People tend to avoid training on the internet because of the little interaction and lack of open discussion. The change in technology is an undeniable fact but it doesn t change the reality of the stable and solid systems which don t need to shift the equipment paradigms completely. These are more likely to be adopted, implemented, and improved over time with shared knowledge via good feedback mechanism. When it comes to engineering, you need to just start your training by identifying the potential opportunities, learn the basic concepts, take online courses and then improve your skills on a continuous basis.

As reliability and maintenance go through systemic changes, that is why the best approach to make people learn is to give them work in teams, help them do it successfully and do it consistently so that the changes are much more effective, deep and widespread.
